Hokies Football: Four-Star WR Tahj Capehart Commits to Virginia Tech

The Virginia Tech Hokies have gained a lot of recruiting momentum over the past few weeks from gaining four public commits at the Blacksburg Bash to the commitment of top 100 2019 757 CB Tank Land and four-star 2018 QB DeJuan Ellis. Now, Justin Fuente and the Hokies have gained even more momentum with what is the biggest commitment over the past two weeks. https://twitter.com/hatfieldsports/status/761944663976710144 Four-star WR Tahj Capehart of Bishop Sullivan Catholic School in Virginia Beach, Virginia became Virginia Tech's 15th commit of the Class of 2017 on ESPN Radio 94.1 in Virginia Beach. Capehart has an impressive list of 21 offers that includes Virginia Tech, Alabama, Georgia, Nebraska, Tennessee, South Carolina, Penn State, Maryland, West Virginia, South Carolina, Ohio State, Notre Dame, Miami, and more. Capehart is a four-star recruit across the board with 247 Sports ranking him as the 235th best recruit in the nation, and the 247 Sports Composite having him as the 271st best recruit. Capehart is also ranked as the 49th best WR by ESPN, 37th best WR by 247 Sports, 30th best WR by the 247 Sports Composite, and the 32nd best athlete by Rivals. Above that, Capehart is one of the top in-state recruits with ESPN and the 247 Sports Composite ranking him tenth in the Commonwealth, and 247 Sports ranks him 13th among Virginia recruits. This is a huge recruiting get for the Hokies in the 757 as Tahj Capehart has been one of Virginia Tech's top recruiting targets in the Class of 2017 since Justin Fuente started to shift his focus to 2017 recruiting. Zohn Burden has been in hot pursuit of Capehart for a while with Holmon Wiggins also having a role in the recruiting of Capehart as well. However, Burden has been the primary recruiter and has made another statement about how he is one of the premier 757 recruiters in college football especially after getting big time 2019 CB Tank Land last week. Maryland was the biggest threat to the Hokies throughout this recruitment with the hiring of former UVA assistant Chris Beatty putting the Terps in great shape due to Beatty's strong relationships in the 757. Despite that, Burden and the Hokies were still able to step up and close the deal even as major programs like Alabama, Georgia, and Nebraska all offered and showed lots of interest. Tahj Capehart will be able to come in immediately and compete for playing time as someone who can fit in the slot receiver role. With Justin Fuente liking to having six to eight receivers ideally, the door is wide open for Capehart to play in 2017 though Henri Murphy, Sean Savoy, and Kalil Pimpleton will also be battling for time in the slot though Capehart may also be able to be used some outside. Tahj Capehart is a statement pickup for the Hokies as they continue to build on their serious recruiting momentum.
