Hokies Football: Jerod Evans, Mook Reynolds Are The Hokies of the Game Against Boston College

The Virginia Tech Hokies responded to a 21-point loss against Tennessee with one of their best ACC performances in years with a 49-0 victory over Boston College to give Justin Fuente his first ACC victory. With that said, here are our choices for this week's Hokies of the Game.

Offensive Hokie of the Game: QB Jerod Evans

Saturday was a record-tying day for Jerod Evans as Virginia Tech's starting quarterback had 5 passing touchdowns to tie Bryan Randall's single-game passing touchdown record along with going 16-for-23 for 253 yards with one interception off of a tipped pass. Evans also made some plays with his legs as the junior had 9 carries for 48 rushing yards and an average of 5.3 yards per carry. Evans has looked better and better each week while also making plenty of good decisions with even his interception being off of a tipped pass. One of the only obvious bad plays he had was throwing into double coverage to Isaiah Ford but the Hokies were fortunate to have Ford down there to make a great touchdown catch while being double covered. Isaiah Ford was also once again under consideration after Ford had 4 catches for 91 yards including the spectacular 30-yard touchdown catch to put the Hokies up 21-0 right before halftime. Ford once again looked like the ACC's best wide receiver and one of the best wide receivers in all of college football.

Defensive Hokie of the Game: DB/Whip Mook Reynolds

There was consideration given to potentially give this award to the whole defense for their dominant performance of holding Boston College to only 124 yards of offense but Mook Reynolds is a well-deserving recipient of the defensive Hokie of the game honors. Reynolds may not have had a big day statistically with 4 tackles and 0.5 tackles for loss but the sophomore was all-around dominant once again this week being quite effective in run defense while also being lights out in pass coverage. Reynolds also came close to having an interception a couple of times in this game and seems like someone who could end up with 4 or 5 interceptions by the end of the season. Tremaine Edmunds also received consideration this week after having a strong performance with 7 tackles, 2.5 tackles for loss, and 3 QB hurries. Edmunds was quite good on run defense while also being very effective on blitzes and coming close to getting his first sack of the season. Congrats to Jerod Evans and Mook Reynolds on being our Hokies of the game for Virginia Tech's 49-0 victory over Boston College.
