Hokies Basketball: Kerry Blackshear Will Miss The Start of Training Camp

The Virginia Tech Hokies start their basketball season in less than two months with training camp even sooner for Buzz Williams and the Hokies. After making the NIT and going 10-8 in the ACC, expectations have been raised in Blacksburg with many confident that this team can make the NCAA Tournament. Virginia Tech did have one player have some surgery over the offseason but unfortunately, that player will not be 100% at the start of training camp. https://twitter.com/RTD_MikeBarber/status/781911405222035456 Forward Kerry Blackshear will miss the start of training camp after having surgery on his right foot almost immediately after the end of last season. At this point, it doesn't seem like Blackshear should miss any regular season time with a surprising setback seeming to be the only thing that could cost him from missing any regular season playing time. For the Hokies, getting Blackshear healthy is the most important thing especially since Blackshear likely will be expected to play 25-30 minutes a game as one of Virginia Tech's main big men alongside Zach LeDay. Having Blackshear miss any early games would be disappointing but it is important that he is 100% by the time the Hokies start playing tougher competition though Blackshear likely will be able to play in the Hokies' opener.
