Hokies Football: WR Cam Phillips Will Wear #25 Jersey Against #17 North Carolina

The Virginia Tech Hokies have made a new tradition of this year to honor Frank Beamer by giving out his #25 jersey to the special teams player of the week. That has already led to one of the best moments of the season when Greg Stroman returned a punt against East Carolina for the first touchdown of the game while wearing the #25 jersey. Now, the Hokies are giving the #25 jersey to another player who made a big special teams play against East Carolina. https://twitter.com/CoachFuente/status/784103036817899520 Justin Fuente has awarded the #25 jersey to wide receiver Cam Phillips who made two big plays on special teams against East Carolina with a blocked punt and getting a sack with Reggie Floyd on a fake punt by the Pirates. Phillips becomes the first player from outside of Virginia to wear the #25 jersey this season while also being the first offensive starter to receive the jersey. When ECU did get a punt off, Phillips did seem to come close to blocking it just about every time that the Hokies decided to go for the block instead of focusing on punt coverage. Phillips has embraced his role on the punt block and has become a big threat on that unit along with freshman safety Reggie Floyd. Congrats to Cam Phillips on receiving the honor of wearing the #25 jersey against North Carolina. Stay up with The Tech Lunch Pail by following us on Twitter or giving us a like on Facebook.
