The Virginia Tech Hokies went on the road this past week and got an impressive in Chapel Hill 34-3 over the previously 17th-ranked North Carolina Tar Heels. After that win, the Hokies unsurprisingly made a big jump in both the AP Top 25 and the Coaches Poll.

The Hokies have jumped from 25th to 17th in the AP top 25 while also jumping in the top 25 in the Coaches Poll for the first time at 19th. The Hokies' strong win gained a lot of attention nationally with many seeing the Hokies as a favorite now to win the Coastal led by a strong defense and quality quarterback play.
Five ACC teams made the AP top 25 this week with North Carolina dropping out as Clemson remained third, Louisville remained seventh, Florida State jumped to 14th, Miami dropped to 16th, and the Hokies jumped to 17th. Two big matchups between these five schools remain as Miami travels to Virginia Tech next Thursday and Florida State hosts Clemson two weeks from this Saturday.
The Hokies are on the rise with a decisive ACC Coastal showdown looming against Miami if they can take care of business at Syracuse this week.
