Post-Commitment Q&A With Virginia Tech RB Commit Jalen Holston

Last Friday, Virginia Tech gained a big commitment from long time top RB target Jalen Holston. Virginia Tech had been the leaders for Holston for a while now since almost when four-star RB Khalan Laborn committed to Florida State over Virginia Tech. With Holston and Terius Wheatley committed, Virginia Tech's offensive recruiting seems almost done outside of the offensive line with Mekhi Becton being the one clear name left on the board. Holston is likely going to come in a s a high three-star, but is a big part of the Hokies' recruiting class so we reached out to Jalen and he chose to join us for a Q&A on his commitment and recruitment. With that said, take a look as we ask Jalen Holston about multiple different things from why he chose Virginia Tech to whether he thinks he can come in and play early plus his thoughts on whether he will take other official visits or if he is fully shutting down his recruitment. Q: Why did you choose to commit to Virginia Tech? Jalen Holston: I chose VT because of how comfortable i was with them. The coaches, players, fans, alumni, and teachers were all great to me. I liked a lot of schools but VT felt like the best fit for me. Q: When did you personally decide that Virginia Tech was where you wanted to go? JH: I decided that VT was the school for me a week before my commitment. Q: How big of an impact did Justin Fuente have on your recruitment? JH: A very big impact, Coach Fuente is actually one of the only coaches I always talked to personally. Every chance he got to speak to me, he did which made me feel very like a very important student-athlete to them. Q: How important was your relationship with RBs coach Zohn Burden in choosing VT? JH: It was very important Coach Zohn was a coach I could actually sit down and talk to anything about including my personal life; my decision was about more than just football. Q: What other factors were most important in making your decision? JH: Being able to come in and earn playing time, the school having my major, if my mom was comfortable with me being at the school for 3 to 4 years. Q: Were there any promises that were made to you by Virginia Tech? JH: The reason I like VT so much is they told me straight up that nothing will be promised to me, I was going to have to earn everything that my bright future holds. I like when people are straightforward. Q: Do you believe you can compete for playing time as a true freshman? JH: Yes, I honestly believe when I come in and work my a** off that I would have the chance to compete for the starting job. Q: Are you going to take anymore visits to schools other than Virginia Tech or are you fully shutting down your recruitment? JH: I am fully committed to VT. I haven't decided on where I'm taking the rest of my visits, but I do plan on taking all of my official visits. Thanks again to Jalen Holston for participating in our post-commitment Q&A.
