One of the biggest controversies this bowl season has been whether these games really mean much outside of the playoff and New Year's Six with LSU's Leonard Fournette and Stanford's Christian McCaffrey both electing not to play in their respective bowl games to prepare for the NFL Draft. The decision by Fournette and McCaffrey to sit out has intensified the debate with many saying that bowl games are meaningless outside of the College Football Playoff and New Year's Six bowls. However, Justin Fuente definitely does not agree with that sentiment. https://twitter.com/techlunchpaild/status/814129719713075200 Fuente's statement comes the day before the Hokies and Razorbacks face off in Bank of America Stadium and can't be seen as surprising given how the Hokies have plenty to play for in the Belk Bowl including the opportunity to get Virginia Tech back to the 10-win plateau. Of course, there are challenges with convincing players of that, but the conviction in which Fuente made that statement is the type of conviction that he likely has told to the players which undoubtedly helps to make sure that they approach this game as the important game that it is along with the fact that he has a team full of players ready to send their senior leaders out with a victory and the first 10-win season since 2011.
