Virginia Tech's comeback showed that the Hokies have tremendous grit and toughness to fight back from an awful start instead of completely folding. There were plenty of great performances but these two stood out to earn the final Hokies of the Game honors for this season.

Offensive Hokie of the Game: Cam Phillips

Cam Phillips's breakout season was capped off with another big performance in the Belk Bowl as he had 6 catches for 115 yards and 4 carries for 16 yards on his way to receiving Belk Bowl MVP honors. Phillips stepped up on the big stage in his hometown of Charlotte as Phillips was an issue for Arkansas all night. Phillips has stepped his game up working out of the slot as he has become a matchup nightmare for opponents with linebackers and safeties being unable to stay up with him working out of the slot. Phillips should continue to work out of the slot and should only become more dangerous in the slot role next year. Jerod Evans had a big second half completing 10-straight passes to start the second half while also having 4 touchdowns and breaking the VT single-season QB rushing record. Isaiah Ford had 6 catches for 56 yards and Bucky Hodges had 5 catches for 51 yards in what may be the final collegiate games for both Hodges and Ford.

Defensive Hokie of the Game: Anthony Shegog

There were plenty of possible choices but one player stood and also had a strong case to be the Belk Bowl MVP, Anthony Shegog. Shegog had a couple of bad plays but his effort was significantly better than any other Hokie while he came through with plenty of big plays with 6 tackles, 1 sack, 1 interception, 1 forced fumble, and recovered the fumble from Terrell Edmunds's interception. Both his fumble and interception were critical plays that helped give the Hokies' momentum with the fumble being one of the biggest game changers in the wild game. However, it was Shegog's effort that stood out and took his play to the next level in what was by far the best game of his collegiate career on a big stage. Mook Reynolds also had a huge game with 5 tackles, 3 tackles for loss, 2 sacks, and 1 pass breakup in what was a great game for the NC native. Tremaine Edmunds also had a huge game with 7 tackles, 1.5 tackles for loss, and 1 interception to cap off what was a huge first season as a full-time starter.
