In what was a wild game, there were plenty of good performances, but the Belk Bowl MVP went to one of the Hokies' top wide receivers. https://twitter.com/VT_Football/status/814663300210429952 Charlotte native Cam Phillips was named the MVP of the Belk Bowl after having 6 catches for 114 receiving yards and 4 carries for 16 rushing yards Phillips was quite impressive in this game taking advantage of mismatches in the slot while also being a problem even when Arkansas put a cornerback against him to try and contain him. Phillips took off in the final games having at least 6 catches in 7 of those games and really proving that he is best in the slot and should continue to work out of the slot no matter if Bucky Hodges and Isaiah Ford go to the NFL or not. It also seems likely that Phillips will stay in the slot as he stayed in the slot and Eric Kumah came in the game briefly when Ford had to go to the sideline for a few plays. Phillips was definitely a worthy choice, but there were a couple of other players who would have also been worthy choices including Anthony Shegog and Mook Reynolds. Shegog and Reynolds both arguably had the best games of their careers with Shegog having by far the best game of his Virginia Tech career in his final game of a VT uniform making tons of great plays because of how he had the most energy of anyone while Reynolds was all over the field especially in the second half and was dominant when sent on blitzes. However, Cam Phillips was a worthy choice as he helped get the Hokies' offense going out of the slot and was a nightmare for the Razorbacks all night. Congrats to Cam Phillips on being named Belk Bowl MVP.
