Frank Beamer has been named to the College Football Playoff selection committee along with Ohio State AD Gene Smith and Robert Morris University President Chris Howard while Texas Tech AD Kirby Hocutt and former Clemson and Vanderbilt head coach Bobby Johnson had their terms extended.
Beamer is a great choice for the committee as someone who had a tremendous run at the top of college football with 29 seasons at Virginia Tech including 23-straight bowl appearances, 7 conference championships (3 Big East, 4 ACC), and 1 national title appearance in the 2000 Sugar Bowl.
Beamer has a lot more time on his hands now given that he isn't coaching anymore and clearly is healthy enough to commit to being on the committee for at least the next three years. Beamer's knowledge of the game may make him one of the loudest voices in the room and his opinions could make a big impact on the field.
Congrats to Frank Beamer on being chosen for College Football Playoff selection committee.
