[Credit: Harley Taylor][/caption]Year 1 of the Justin Fuente era exceeded all expectations as Virginia Tech went 10-4 with the Hokies winning the ACC Coastal division title and 10 games for the first time since 2011. The Hokies had plenty of talent this past season and with three players leaving early, expectations were that the Hokies would have a large group going to the NFL Combine. That has proven to be the case. https://twitter.com/techlunchpaild/status/831206469827756033 Virginia Tech's Isaiah Ford, Bucky Hodges, Jerod Evans, Sam Rogers, Ken Ekanem, and Chuck Clark have all been invited to participate in the 2017 NFL Combine in Indianapolis. Most of the names aren't a surprise with Ford, Hodges, and Evans all being either likely or potential day 1 or 2 draft picks while Sam Rogers is seen by many as the top fullback. Ekanem and Clark were likely both on the bubble to be selected but both are worthy choices and now have a chance to strengthen their case to be drafted on the final day of the 2017 NFL Draft. Ford and Hodges have been trending in the round 2 to 3 range recently, but Hodges in particular has a chance to really make a strong statement that he is a rare athlete that any team would want to take a chance on in the first round. Ford seems like someone who may not stand out at the top of the Combine but is someone who won't disappoint scouts while Sam Rogers has a chance to solidify even more that he is the top fullback in this draft and worthy of being selected. Jerod Evans has the most at stake at the 2017 NFL Combine as Evans was a major surprise and scouts will be intrigued to see his raw arm strength and accuracy along with his speed with scouts having only one season of FBS tape on him. Evans has a lot of upside, but is also quite raw and teams will be looking to see how his mechanics and ability to read the field have developed in whatever they can during drills at this year's Combine. Congrats to Isaiah Ford, Bucky Hodges, Jerod Evans, Sam Rogers, Ken Ekanem, and Chuck Clark on being selected to participate in the 2017 NFL Combine.
