Isaiah Ford Selected In the Seventh Round of the 2017 NFL Draft By the Miami Dolphins

Isaiah Ford 1
Isaiah Ford faced a long draft weekend as Virginia Tech's best receiver in program history had a long wait that had him on the board still well into the seventh round with many starting to wonder if Ford would even be drafted at all, a shocking revelation for a guy who was seen as a day 2 pick when he declared for the draft. However, Ford did end up avoiding undrafted free agency. https://twitter.com/MiamiDolphins/status/858443394443608065 Isaiah Ford was selected 237th overall in the seventh round of the 2017 NFL Draft by the Miami Dolphins as the fourth and final Hokie taken in the 2017 NFL Draft, making this the draft with the most Hokies selected since 2010. For Ford, this is an opportunity for the Jacksonville native to come back to Florida albeit much farther down the Atlantic coast in Miami but an opportunity that undoubtedly will excite him. Ford had a tremendous career in Blacksburg starting 37 out of 40 games while breaking the Virginia Tech single-season and career records for receptions, receiving yards, and receiving touchdowns. Ford finished his career with 210 catches for 2,967 receiving yards, and 24 receiving touchdowns while having a great junior season with 79 catches for 1,094 receiving yards and 7 touchdowns while at least having 4 catches in every game except against UNC where he was limited after picking up a minor injury early on. Ford may not have the highest ceiling but Ford definitely has a high floor and will be a productive NFL player that could even end up being a 50-60 reception a year type of guy at his peak. Ford will immediately bring solid depth to Miami's wide receiver corps as a well-rounded receiver who is a very good route-runner, has great hands, can win some 50-50 balls, and knows how to find space against man coverage. There have been some quality receivers that have come out of the seventh round and Isaiah Ford should be the next one. Congrats Isaiah Ford on being selected in the 2017 NFL Draft.
