Virginia Tech Makes the Top 5 for Four-Star CB Kalon Gervin, RB Caleb Steward

The Virginia Tech Hokies had a strong weekend on the recruiting trail headlined by three commitments from three-star recruits John Harris (OG), Eli Adams (DE), and Cam Goode (DT). However, that was far from being the only good news for the Hokies on the recruiting trail.

Four-Star CB Kalon Gervin

https://twitter.com/KalonGervin/status/873967335358554112 Virginia Tech made the top 5 for four-star CB and former Notre Dame commit Kalon Gervin along with Oregon, Oklahoma, Michigan State, and Louisville. The Hokies received a visit from Gervin less than 3 weeks before his decommitment from the Fighting Irish and have gained lots of traction in his recruitment since. Gervin has become a top defensive target for the Hokies ever since he visited Blacksburg, and the Hokies have emerged as a serious contender in a recruitment that still does seem fairly wide open among these five schools. There is no doubt that all five of these schools will be ready to put plenty of resources in towards trying to get a commitment from the Detroit area cornerback with Gervin likely being a top DB target for all five of these schools. With Gervin having a large offer list, this top 5 appears to be Gervin starting to cut down his list as he seems to be getting closer to making a decision. With Virginia Tech having gotten two commitments from Michigan in the previous two classes (Josh Jackson and Kalil Pimpleton), VT appears in strong shape to potentially add a talented Michigan recruit for the third-straight year via Kalon Gervin.

RB Caleb Steward

https://twitter.com/Caleb_Steward/status/874069641571782658 Virginia Tech made the top 5 for Jacksonville RB Caleb Steward along with Duke, Wake Forest, Purdue, and USF. Steward took a visit to USF this past weekend as the Bulls definitely shouldn't be taken likely especially with Charlie Strong at the helm and USF having been able to beat power 5 schools for talented in-state recruits. Steward has become one of Virginia Tech's top RB targets as the Hokies were the power 5 school to offer and offered Steward before any other school in his top 5 including in-state USF. The Hokies already have one commit from the Jacksonville area in three-star safety Chamarri Conner who could prove useful in helping the Hokies in their push for Steward. Steward has seen his offer list expand a lot over the past 4 to 6 weeks, but it appears that Steward is zeroing in on a few schools and the Hokies appear to be in solid position for him at this point.
