Virginia Tech Baseball Hires VCU Assistant Kurt Elbin

John Szefc and the Virginia Tech Hokies have been busy filling out their baseball staff headlined by the addition of pitching coach Ryan Fecteau and director of baseball operations Corey Haines who both followed Szefc to Maryland. Today, the Hokies added another on-field assistant who isn't coming from Maryland to Blacksburg. https://twitter.com/VT_Baseball/status/878329393562566657 Virginia Tech hired VCU assistant coach/recruiting coordinator Kurt Elbin to the same position. Elbin had been in his position at VCU for the past 5 seasons helping Shawn Stiffler build VCU into the top program in the Atlantic 10 and into one that is earning major regional attention over the past few years. Elbin previously worked at Division II Shippensburg University for two years and prior to that, Elbin spent three years at Division III Thiel College. Elbin has worked his way up the ladder from Division III to arguably the best conference at the top level of college baseball within a decade with being a big part of the success that has been built at VCU. Elbin also brings lots of solid recruiting ties not only in Virginia but likely also in places like Pennsylvania that John Szefc is hoping to prioritize right after the Commonwealth. Kurt Elbin is another strong hire for the Hokies that gives Virginia Tech an assistant with plenty of in-state experience helping build up VCU as their recruiting coordinator.
