Virginia Tech Makes Top 4 for Four-Star TE Kyle Pitts

IMG 7246 2 1
Over the past few weeks, four-star TE Kyle Pitts has appeared to getting closer to a commitment with Florida being the heavy favorite despite pushes from others like Virginia Tech. However, Pitts now appears to be changing his mind some on that while also cutting his list down. https://twitter.com/danieljtgallen/status/880501971291037696 Four-star TE Kyle Pitts will wait longer to commit to give him time to take visits to both Virginia Tech and Georgia while Pitts also revealed that he has a top 4 of the Hokies, Bulldogs, Florida, and Maryland. Pitts has emerged as one of top tight ends in America as shown by how he is currently inviting in The Opening out in Oregon currently. Kyle Pitts will be a big pickup for whatever program he goes to as Pitts is ranked as the 268th best recruit by the 247 Sports Composite, 202nd best by Rivals, 178th best by 247 Sports, and 153rd best by ESPN. Pitts is also a top 10 Pennsylvania recruit including as high as 4th by ESPN while among TEs, Pitts is definitely one of America's best with 247 Sports and Rivals ranking him 7th, the 247 Sports Composite ranking him 13th, and ESPN having him as the second-best TE-H. With Kyle Pitts currently at The Opening, expect Virginia Tech QB commit Quincy Patterson to make a big push for him especially with Patterson telling us previously that Pitts was his top recruiting target at The Opening. Pitts also has another interesting connection to the Hokies as one of his teammates is three-star DB and Virginia Tech commit Nasir Peoples. Virginia Tech has had some success in the Keystone State this cycle with commitments from Peoples and four-star WR Darryle Simmons. However, Pitts would be the biggest commit nationally out of all those and would be a statement nationally that the Hokies can recruit outside of Virginia and North Carolina with the best and win recruiting battles. Pitts is also one of Virginia Tech's top remaining offensive targets alongside guys like four-star OT Rasheed Walker, four-star WR Daniel George, three-star TE James Mitchell, and others; and getting him would give the Hokies another prominent recruit that could help the Hokies with those guys especially Maryland recruits Walker and George who many see Penn State as the favorite for (though Walker refuted that to Rivals' Adam Friedman at The Opening). While Florida is still the favorite for now, the fact that Virginia Tech is getting a visit from Kyle Pitts is huge though the emergence of Georgia as well makes recruitment quite interesting. Maryland also has had some success getting some talented recruits, but it's hard seeing the Terps winning this battle especially with this not being a DMV recruit.
