Virginia Tech Makes The Top 5 for Four-Star Guard David Duke

David Duke 1
Buzz Williams and Virginia Tech only have one 2018 player committed in three-star guard Jarren McAllister but have the room for at least two more commitments due to Justin Bibbs and Devin Wilson graduating after the season. In the meantime, the Hokies are casting a wide net especially on the wings and made the top five for a talented guard out of New England. https://twitter.com/Duuukkeee/status/897218311108407296 Four-star guard David Duke of New England powerhouse Cushing Academy tweeted out his top 5 which included Virginia Tech, Providence, Indiana, Florida, and Villanova with schools like Kansas, Virginia, Syracuse, UCONN, Creighton, Wake Forest, VCU, and more missing the cut. Duke is highly regarded across all recruiting services as he is ranked as the 60th best recruit by 247 Sports, 48th best by the 247 Sports Composite, 45th best by Rivals, and 54th best by ESPN. Duke is also ranked as the 13th best point guard by ESPN, and fifth best combo guard by 247 Sports and the 247 Sports Composite. Providence is currently seen as the favorite according to the 247 Sports Crystal Ball which isn't a major surprise as Duke is a Providence native. While staying in-state doesn't prove to be nearly as big of a factor in basketball recruiting, having the home turf definitely helps Providence. While Virginia Tech definitely is an underdog for Duke, the Hokies can't be ruled out in part because the Hokies have one of his former teammates on their roster in incoming freshman Wabissa Bede. Having a former teammates of Duke's in Bede is an x-factor that Buzz Williams and the Hokies will look to take advantage of and can only be beneficial. Currently, Providence is the favorite for David Duke, but Virginia Tech can't be ruled out especially with the Hokies having a close connection to Duke via his former teammate Wabissa Bede.
