Tremaine Edmunds has racked up his fair share of preseason recognition headlined by being named to the Preseason All-ACC team and the Preseason All-American Second Team by Sports Illustrated. However, Edmunds has now received his most prestigious honor yet. Tremaine Edmunds was one of four linebackers that were named a Preseason All-American by Bleacher Report yesterday along with LSU's Arden Key, Iowa's Josey Jewell, and Washington's Azeem Victor. This is the first time to our knowledge that Edmunds has been named to a Preseason All-American First Team (Bleacher Report only released a first team) making this the most prestigious preseason honor he has received so far. However, no one should be shocked that Edmunds is receiving these type of honors and you can be certain that none of his teammates are surprised whatsoever especially fellow starting LB Andrew Motuapuaka who said at Media Day that he believes Edmunds could be the best linebacker in program history. Edmunds is already making a strong case to be one of the greatest linebackers in program history with an impressive sophomore season in which he had 106 total tackles, 18.5 total tackles for loss, 4.5 sacks, 9 QB hurries, 1 interception, 3 pass breakups, 1 forced fumble, and 1 fumble recovery. Edmunds' impressive sophomore season helped earn him unanimous Second Team All-ACC and has him on track to be a high pick in the 2018 NFL Draft if he chooses to leave school early. The Danville, VA native has developed into one of the biggest stars in the ACC with an elite combination of size, athleticism, and football IQ that has NFL scouts very excited about his future. Edmunds has also improved physically this offseason bulking up 15 pounds to become one of America's biggest LBs at 6'5'' and 250 pounds, making him one of the most terrifying players in all of college football for opposing offensive coordinators. Congrats to Tremaine Edmunds on being named a Preseason All-American by Bleacher Report.
