Virginia Tech Releases Their Jerseys For West Virginia Game

Virginia Tech opens the 2017 season with the return of the Black Diamond Trophy rivalry against West Virginia. Earlier this week, WVU announced that they will be in all-white for the opener as the road team. Today, the Hokies announced their jerseys and Hokie fans love the choice. https://twitter.com/HokiesFB/status/903040372208783360 https://twitter.com/techlunchpaild/status/903041730488004609 Virginia Tech is going with an all maroon uniform for the season opener, a combination that is brought out for their biggest games. The all maroon look is the most popular normal uniform combination for fans and should look quite good under the lights. The Hokies have also had plenty of success in these uniforms. Last year, the Hokies wore these uniforms against Miami and Clemson. Both times, they exceeded expectations. Against Miami, the Hokies played arguably their best game of the season on their way to a 37-16 victory. In the ACC Championship, the Hokies came with 25 yards of having a chance at tying or winning the game in the closing minute of the fourth quarter, losing 35-28 to eventual national champion Clemson. The all maroon jersey have built a tradition of their own that excites Hokie fans when they're worn. Sunday night, we'll get to see the all maroon uniforms return along with the Battle for the Black Diamond Trophy.
