VT Target, Four-Star CB Sheridan Jones Reclassifies From 2020 to 2019

Bishop Sullivan has become a 757 powerhouse and one of the most recognizable high school football programs in the country since the arrival of Chris Scott. The school is loaded with power 5 college football recruits including Sheridan Jones, one of the top cornerbacks in the 2020 class. That was until earlier this week when Jones made a significant decision. https://twitter.com/SJones3_/status/951604110742183936 Four-star 757 CB Sheridan Jones announced that he will be reclassifying from the 2020 class to the 2019 class. Jones recently told us about his decision to reclassify from 2020 to 2019. "Reclassifying up to 2019 was the best decision for me because I have a minimal number of classes left to satisfy graduation requirements and my grades are strong. I’m also looking forward to the next chapter in my life," Jones told us. With this decision, Jones immediately becomes one of the top in-state recruits in the 2019 class, ranked fourth by 247 Sports behind RB Devyn Ford, ATH/S Litchfield Ajavon, and LB/DE Brandon Smith. Jones is also ranked as the seventh best cornerback and 141st best recruit in the 2019 class by 247 Sports. The offer list for Sheridan Jones is even more impressive with a who's who of college football east of Texas.
  • ACC: Virginia Tech, Clemson, Florida State
  • SEC: Alabama, Georgia, LSU, Auburn, Florida, Tennessee, South Carolina
  • Big 10: Ohio State, Penn State, Maryland
  • Big 12: West Virginia
  • Conference USA: Charlotte
With this decision, Jones's recruitment has been blown wide open with the pace of it set to pick up especially with 2019 recruits like Jones being able to take official visits later this spring. In the short-term, Jones has visits scheduled to Clemson next weekend and Tennessee in three weeks. He does hope to visit Virginia Tech sometime this spring. When we asked Jones what would be the main factors in his decision, this is what he had to say. "I plan to go to a school that will fit me the best academically and athletically, a school that can help me be a better man as well as a football player. I want to go to a school that will help me get to the next level," Jones told us. Sheridan Jones also told us that while staying close to home would be a factor, it wouldn't be a major factor. Right now, Jones's recruitment is wide open, but the Hokies will definitely make him a priority as one of the best 2019 cornerbacks.
