Terrell Edmunds Selected 28th Overall By The Pittsburgh Steelers in the 2018 NFL Draft

Terrell Edmunds 2
Within the past week, CBS Sports' Jason La Canfora tweeted out a rumor that Terrell Edmunds could sneak into the final few picks of the first round of the 2018 NFL Draft. https://twitter.com/JasonLaCanfora/status/987808560544436224 Almost no one believed that Edmunds would go in the first round. Instead, La Canfora was right. Terrell Edmunds was selected 28th overall by the Pittsburgh Steelers in the 2018 NFL Draft. Brother Tremaine Edmunds was picked 16th overall by the Buffalo Bills earlier in the night, making the Edmunds brothers the first pair of brothers to be selected in the first round of the same NFL Draft. The Edmunds brothers have become the second pair of Hokies selected in the first round of the NFL Draft joining DeAngelo Hall and Kevin Jones in the 2004 NFL Draft. Terrell Edmunds also became the first Virginia Tech defensive back selected in the first round since Kyle Fuller in 2014. Over the past two seasons, Edmunds has been quite productive with 6 interceptions, 7 pass breakups, and 5 tackles for loss in 23 games. Edmunds had a career high 89 tackles in 2016 before injuries limited him to 59 tackles in 10 games while also shifting from rover to free safety. Looking ahead to the NFL, Edmunds could play either safety spot, but strong safety fits his skill set better as a quality box-to-box safety who also has some good ball skills, but isn't necessarily a center fielder-type safety. Congrats to Terrell Edmunds on being selected in the first round of the 2018 NFL Draft.
