Virginia Tech Among Those Standing Out For 2020 Four-Star PG Jalen Cone

Buzz Williams Miami 1
Basketball recruiting can seem to be at a faster pace than football recruiting and though Virginia Tech is looking to fill a scholarship for next season, the Hokies are also putting in the work in future recruiting. That includes making 2020 four-star PG Jalen Cone a high priority in his class. Cone told us that Virginia Tech is standing out along with his other offers from Ole Miss, UNC Greensboro, and Hampton. Cone added that Virginia Tech, Oklahoma State, and UNC Greensboro are the schools recruiting him the hardest. So why are the Hokies standing out for Cone? "The atmosphere of the arena on gameday is what stood out to me. The fans were amazing and the atmosphere was one of the best college basketball atmospheres I've been to so far," Cone told us. While Cone isn't nearly old enough to take an official visit, it's a great start for him to be impressed by the gameday atmosphere. Looking ahead to the summer, Cone told us that he hopes to take visits to all of his offers along with making trips to North Carolina, NC State, Wake Forest, and Tennessee. Jalen Cone is emerging as one of the top point guards on the East Coast in the 2020 class, and Virginia Tech has done a great job getting involved in his recruitment early on. However, the Hokies still have a lot of work going forward as more schools become interested in him.

Jalen Cone in the Recruiting Rankings

Cone is ranked as the 60th best player in the country by Rivals and 74th best by the 247 Sports Composite in the 2020 class. Cone is also ranked as the 16th best point guard and 3rd best recruit in North Carolina by the 247 Sports Composite.
