Andrew Dunn Will Transfer Away From Virginia Tech

VT Cheerleaders Miami 1 1
After earning the starting heavyweight job and replacing Ty Walz, Andrew Dunn has decided to transfer according to Tony Robie in an interview with TechSideline.com. After redshirting during the 2016-2017 season, Dunn earned the heavyweight job and broke into the top 20 in the country at his weight class before the start of 2018. Dunn finished the season with a 22-15 overall record that included qualifying for the NCAA Championships after finishing fifth at the ACC Tournament. Dunn had some struggles during ACC competition, but the Pennsylvania native appeared to have a bright future in Blacksburg. However, the heavyweight starter has decided to head elsewhere to continue his collegiate wrestling career. With Andrew Dunn transferring, the Hokies do have a few possible options to replace him at heavyweight. One possibility is senior walk-on Brooks Wilding who was the backup behind Dunn this past season. The Hokies could also move one of their 197 wrestlers up to heavyweight as well with talented redshirt freshman John Borst, NCAA qualifier and Bucknell transfer Tom Sleigh, and Ohio freestyle state champion Dakota Howard all at 197. While Dunn's loss is disppointing, the Hokies do have some quality options to replace the talented heavyweight wrestler going forward.
