2020 Three-Star ATH LaMareon James Excited About Virginia Tech Offer

Entrance 3
LaMareon James has emerged as one of the top talents in the 757 in the 2020 class this spring and early summer with several schools extending offers including Virginia Tech yesterday. https://twitter.com/lamareon_james/status/1013132561286037509 "I’m very excited because I have been waiting on this offer for a while now!" James told us after VT offered him. How does this offer impact James' recruitment? "Virginia Tech is going to be on my radar for sure. I’m planning on visiting Virginia Tech very soon," James said. At the moment, James has not taken a visit to Virginia Tech, but will make one later this summer to Blacksburg and a July visit to Michigan. James also told us that the Hokies are among four standing out for him after this offer along with Michigan, Maryland, and North Carolina. Why are the Hokies standing out for James? "I like the coaching staff, the academic support they have, the fan base, and their atmosphere on gameday," James told us. The Hokies are pursuing James as an athlete, a role that he seems quite comfortable in on the offensive side of the ball. James has great speed and sees himself as a "Tavon Austin" type player who can play at running back or work out of the slot, something that VT seems to want as an option in their offense. While the Hokies didn't offer James initially after their 757 camp, it's clear that the Hokies were quite impressed with the speedy athlete who has the versatility that VT looks for in their smaller, quicker backs. LaMareon James' recruitment is just starting to take off with the Hokies becoming the latest to get involved.
