Virginia Tech Standing Out Early On For 2020 757 RB Kaelon Black

HOKIES Flag 1
Virginia Tech's coaching staff spent the beginning of their summer on the road hosting satellite camps and sending out several offers including one to 2020 757 RB Kaelon Black. https://twitter.com/kaelonblack6/status/1007086251760128000 For Black, that moment was a big relief that he would have opportunities to play at the highest levels of college football. "It was more of a relief type of reaction. I was happy that I got the offer from an ACC school," Black told us about his reaction. In addition, Black told us that Justin Fuente called him over during the Hokies' 757 camp to encourage him to "keep working hard" and to tell him that VT would be offering him. Since then, the Hokies have continued to make Black a priority and for now, VT is right at the top of his recruitment. Black told us that the Hokies and East Carolina are currently standing out in his recruitment. Part of the reason for that is because both schools have been making the 757 star a priority on the recruiting trail. In addition, Black had this to say about why VT was specifically standing out for him. "It's a great academic and athletic school. Also, their football program is on the rise with more in-state recruits staying home. I feel that they have a lot to offer both academically and athletically," Black told us. Black added on that Virginia Tech is currently recruiting him the hardest in his recruitment and that he plans to visit the Hokies for VT's big summer recruiting barbecue. Right now, the Hokies are clearly making Black a top priority in a 757 where the Hokies have continued to gain traction during the Justin Fuente era including in the 2019 class with commitments from Cam'Ron Kelly and Tayvion Robinson. While the interest in Black is likely to grow, VT has positioned themselves quite well in the early stages of his recruitment with a great opportunity to build on that right after the summer recruiting dead period ends. Virginia Tech is in a great spot for Kaelon Black early on, but the Hokies still have plenty of work ahead in their pursuit of the 757 star.
