Less than two weeks ago, three-star RB and NC State commit Jamious Griffin made a trip to Virginia Tech for the Hokies’ Blacksburg Bash recruiting barbecue. That visit was his first to Blacksburg since being offered, and the Rome, GA tailback caught up with us after to talk about his visit.
Griffin told us that he had a “great” visit to Blacksburg and had a “great conversation” with Justin Fuente.
What stood out about his visit?
“The players are really cool and just talking with the coaches. It was a nice visit overall,” Griffin told us.
The Hokies should also benefit from the fact that the relationships he has with players likely started when his brother Jaylen Griffin committed to the Hokies two summers ago. Jamious Griffin also previously had this to say on what it would be like to play with one of his brothers in college (his brother Jaquon will be a freshman DT at Georgia Tech this fall).
“It’s a once in a million opportunity. What’s more special then playing on the next level with your brother,” Griffin said.
One thing that was likely unique about this visit were some of the activities including some time spent bowling which Griffin told us was a “good time.”
So how did this visit impact Griffin’s recruitment?
“Coach Fuente gave me a lot to think about,” Griffin said. He added that the Hokies also showed lots of interest in him while he was on campus.
Looking ahead, Griffin previously told us that he plans to take official visits to Virginia Tech, NC State, Georgia Tech, and Ole Miss this fall with no dates for those visits scheduled at this point.
Jamious Griffin is currently solid in his commitment to NC State, but Justin Fuente and the Hokies are giving him plenty to think about.
