After gaining a commitment from 2020 Richmond QB Tyler Warren earlier today, Virginia Tech gained their second commitment of the day from three-star LB Dean Ferguson.

Ferguson is the Hokies’ first linebacker commit and 16th overall commit in their 2019 class. In addition, Ferguson is now the Hokies’ sixth in-state commit in their 2019 class. Justin Fuente was unsurprisingly among those who were very excited to receive the news of Ferguson’s commitment.

The Hokies were a top contender throughout his recruitment leading up to his decision with Ferguson having a “great” visit to Blacksburg for VT’s Spring Game which likely set Virginia Tech up well to gain his commitment.
As a player, Ferguson is listed as a safety by a majority of the recruiting services though the Hokies are pursuing him as a linebacker who is growing into the position similar to current VT LB Alan Tisdale.
Congrats to Dean Ferguson on his commitment to Virginia Tech.
