Virginia Tech Among Trio Standing Out For 2020 Three-Star OT Walker Parks

Walker Parks 1
Virginia Tech hasn't been afraid to cast a wider recruiting net in recent years including into Kentucky where the Hokies have gained a 2019 commitment from four-star OL Bryan Hudson. Now, the Hokies are looking to add a Kentucky offensive lineman to their 2020 class in three-star OT Walker Parks. Recently, Parks told us that Virginia Tech, Notre Dame, and Clemson are currently standing out in his recruitment. Parks had this to say on why the Hokies are standing out in his recruitment. "They are showing the most love right now through sending mail and communicating. The coaches are genuine people who run a successful program," Parks told us. In addition, Virginia Tech and Clemson are the schools recruiting Parks hardest at the moment. Parks was on campus in late July and told us after that visit that it was a "really good day" and that the Hokies' "blue collar mentality" stood out the most from his visit. In addition, Parks got to spend lots of time with the coaching staff and Hokies' commits while also getting to tour VT's facilities, see the "transformation in players through their weight program," and enjoy "a lot of good food." Overall, Parks left that visit "very impressed" before receiving an offer from VT days after his time in Blacksburg. Parks will be making his first trip to Blacksburg since being offered on October 6th when the Hokies host Notre Dame for what should be a primetime marquee matchup. After that, Parks intends to visit Clemson on October 20th while hoping to visit Notre Dame between his two ACC visits. One thing that is beneficial for the Hokies is that Parks is close with VT commit Bryan Hudson. As Parks told us, the two have a "very good" relationship as both of them played football together growing up while their families are also "very close." How much of an impact does his relationship with Hudson have on VT's standing and his recruitment as a whole? "It has a good impact knowing I could continue to go play in college with one of my best friends. That’s very special to me," Parks said. Looking ahead, Parks is planning on making his decision sometime this offseason with a not decision not coming till after his high school season is complete. Virginia Tech is in a battle for Walker Parks with the Hokies, Clemson, and Notre Dame all having great opportunities to make a strong impression on the talented Kentucky offensive lineman next month.
