Four-star DE Coziah Izzard is one of Virginia Tech's top defensive line target in the 2020 class and one of the top players in the state of Maryland. The good news for the Hokies is that Izzard is also quite interested in the Hokies.
Izzard told us that Virginia Tech, Penn State, Georgia, Maryland, and North Carolina are currently standing out. In addition, he told us that the Hokies are currently recruiting him the hardest.
So why are the Hokies standing out for Izzard?
"They stand out because I really like the school and the facilities. The coaches seem really eager for me to get back on campus and watch a game. A game I’ll be going to is when VT plays Notre Dame. The coaches always show a lot of love and text me almost every day," Izzard told us.
As Izzard said, he will be visiting the Hokies for their expected primetime showdown against Notre Dame while also travelling to Penn State next weekend for their big game against Ohio State. His upcoming visit to VT will be his first trip to Blacksburg since he took an unofficial visit in May.
When he does visit the Hokies, Izzard told us that he is looking forward to seeing the Hokies in action and to meet parts of the VT staff that he hsan't previously met.
Izzard is already considered one of the top defensive ends on the East Coast and has been productive so far this high school season being a part of five sacks through three games. That performance will likely attract more offers soon with Izzard telling us that he feels Clemson, Auburn, and Louisville are the closest to offering him.
Virginia Tech has emerged as a top contender for Coziah Izzard and though he has no timetable for starting to trim down his list, the Hokies should remain a top contender throughout the duration of his recruitment with a great chance to leave a strong impression on him in two weeks.

Izzard is ranked as the 119th best 2020 recruit by ESPN, 134th best by the 247 Sports Composite, 164th best by 247 Sports, and 165th best by Rivals. In the state of Maryland, Izzard is ranked as the sixth best recruit by ESPN, seventh best by 247 Sports and the 247 Sports Composite, and tenth best by Rivals.Coziah Izzard's Offer List (According to 247 Sports)
