Steven Peoples, Rayshard Ashby are the Hokies of the Game Against Old Dominion

The 13th-ranked Virginia Tech Hokies couldn't get it done today, falling to Old Dominion 49-35 on the road for their first loss of the season. Despite the upset loss, a few players had standout games that are worthy of recognition. For this week's game, Steven Peoples and Rayshard Ashby are the Hokies of the Game.

Offensive Hokie of the Game: RB Steven Peoples

While the Hokies struggled to get any offensive momentum throughout the game, Steven Peoples was a light for the offense on Saturday. Peoples finished the game with 20 carries for 156 yards and two touchdowns. He averaged 7.8 yards per carry in the game. Peoples' longest play of the game was an 87-yard touchdown run early in the first quarter that gave the Hokies their first score of the game. Peoples continued to perform well throughout the afternoon, even when the Hokies were down and the outcome was looking bleak. Peoples now has 255 yards and four touchdowns on the season for the Hokies. Damon Hazelton stood out for Virginia Tech as well, making five receptions for 154 yards and a touchdown. The highlight of the game for Hazelton was a 72-yard touchdown pass that put the Hokies up 28-21 late in the third quarter.

Defensive Hokie of the Game: LB Rayshard Ashby

While the defense had its share of trouble in today's game, some players had solid individual performances. One of those players is sophomore linebacker Rayshard Ashby. Ashby finished the game with nine tackles, including two solo tackles and one tackle for loss. He also had a pass breakup and a quarterback hurry in the game. Ashby's performance stands out for a defense that gave up 632 yards and 49 points. Other players who put up solid stats in Saturday's game were Dylan Rivers and Trevon Hill. Rivers contributed nine tackles as well, including four solo tackles. Hill made six tackles on the day, including 1.5 tackles for loss while also making one pass breakup.
