Virginia Tech head coach Justin Fuente has announced who will wear the No. 25 jersey for this weekend’s game against Duke. Punter Oscar Bradburn gets the honor, becoming the first purely special teams player to wear the jersey this season. Ricky Walker, Eric Kumah and Jovonn Quillen have all been honored with the No. 25 jersey this season, but all of them play a position on defense or offense as well as special teams. The Sophomore out of Australia has been consistent for the Hokies this season, punting the ball 16 times for 673 yards, with his longest punt coming at 63 yards. Bradburn has recorded one touchback so far in 2018 and has pinned the ball inside the 20-yard-line seven times. Twelve of his punts have been fair caught. Bradburn ranks 44th in FBS with 42.1 yards per punt. He ranks fifth in the ACC, just behind Florida State’s Logan Tyler. After making nine punts in the Florida State game, Bradburn got the week off against William and Mary when no offensive drives ended in him punting. He saw action again last week against Old Dominion, punting seven times for an average of 44.9 yards per punt. Bradburn came to Virginia Tech last season and made an immediate impact at the punter position, earning praise from coaches and teammates. He played in all 13 games last season and has been effective as the punter for the Hokies in 2018. Bradburn will take the field in the No. 25 jersey when the Hokies kick off against Duke at 7 p.m. this Saturday in Durham.
