2020 Three-Star ATH LaMareon James Recaps His "Great" Virginia Tech Visit

IMG 43172
Over the past few months, Virginia Tech has made speedy 757 athlete LaMareon James a priority in the 2020 class and this weekend, James visited the Hokies for their game against Notre Dame. What did James think about his visit? "It was great. I loved the energy from the coaches and players and also the fan base!" James told us. Why did the Hokies' fan base stand out to James? "What surprised me the most about the fan base was that they knew who I was," James said. After the visit, James told us that the Hokies are higher on his radar though he doesn't have any separation among the schools that have offered him so far. James also doesn't any more visits scheduled at the moment though you can expect schools like UNC and Maryland to push to get him on campus after he visited both schools this summer while VT likely will push to get him back on campus for a second visit later this fall. Though James doesn't have a leader at the moment, the Hokies have emerged as one of the top contenders for the speedy, versatile athlete. James may not have a traditional position, but seems like an ideal fit in Justin Fuente's offense as a slot receiver who can slide into the backfield at times or be used on jet sweeps similar to Tavon Austin, someone who James models his game after. Virginia Tech left a strong impression on LaMareon James and has positioned themselves early in his recruitment.
