Virginia Tech takes on Georgia Tech this week in a classic Thursday night matchup. Hokies fans have been waiting for this one as they had to go all of last season without a Thursday night game. As gameday approaches and the excitement grows for the first home ACC game of the season, fans have a glimpse of what the Hokies will look like on the field this week. [embed]https://twitter.com/HokiesFB/status/1054504470351093761[/embed] The team announced the uniform combination for game seven of the 2018 season, and it’s a familiar one. The Hokies will take the field in Lane Stadium wearing maroon helmets, maroon jerseys and white pants. This is the same combination that the team wore two weeks ago against North Carolina. This is the first time this season that the team has repeated an entire uniform. The Hokies are 1-0 in the combination, winning 22-19 against UNC. Tech is 3-1 in maroon helmets, 2-1 in maroon jerseys and 3-1 in white pants this season. This combination worked for the Hokies in their last outing, but it doesn’t exactly seem fitting for this week’s game. The contest against Georgia Tech is the Orange Effect game, but there’s no orange in the uniforms. It might seem a bit odd when all 66,000 fans are donning orange apparel, but the team isn’t. Maybe the Hokies are trying to dodge the bad luck that seems to plague the team when they wear orange. After all, the last time they had an orange component in their uniforms, they lost to Old Dominion. Personally, I’m not a believer in the cursed orange uniforms, so it would’ve been nice to see at least an orange helmet this week. Whatever your thoughts are, you can see the uniforms in action when the Hokies kick off against Georgia Tech this Thursday at 8 p.m.
