Virginia Tech is Showing Interest in JUCO DT Jomaious Williams

Virginia Tech has a big depth issue at defensive tackle not only this season but beyond with Ricky Walker and Vinny Mihota both set to graduate and Jarrod Hewitt being the only proven contributor set to return this season along with part-time backups Robert Porcher IV and Xavier Burke. The Hokies have a trio of defensive tackle commits in their 2019 commits but given the challenges of playing as a true freshman at DT, the Hokies are also looking at the JUCO level for more immediate help including Nick Figueroa and Jomaious Williams. Williams doesn't currently have an offer, but he told us that Virginia Tech and Kentucky are showing the most interest in him currently. In addition, Williams is scheduled to take an official visit to Virginia Tech the weekend of December 8th, his only currently scheduled visit this fall though it wouldn't be surprising to see that list grow. With the Hokies looking for interior defensive line help for next season, Williams would fit the bill as someone who could at least provide quality depth next season and compete for a starting job. So far in his JUCO season, Williams has been a run stuffer with 28 tackles, 4 total tackles for loss, and 1 sack. In addition, Williams has more than adequate size with his Coffeyville C.C. listing him at 6'3'' and 325 pounds. Similar to four-star JUCO DE Kuony Deng, Williams is another East Coast native from Wilmington, NC, something that could be advantageous depending on how his recruitment develops. Right now, Williams is looking at making his decision in February though the number of offers and timing of those offers could easily affect that. Jomaious Williams is a name to watch as the Hokies look to bring in some JUCO help at defensive tackle.
