For just the second time this season, an offensive player will wear the honorary No. 25 jersey when Virginia Tech takes the field this weekend. Tight end Dalton Keene will wear Frank Beamer’s jersey on Saturday against Boston College, the team announced yesterday. “He’s earned it…He sets the tempo. He’s as tough as it gets and works his tail off every single day,” head coach Justin Fuente said in a tweet on the HokiesFB Twitter account. Keene has had some impactful games for the Hokies this season. He made two receptions for 82 yards against Duke on Sept. 29. He also scored his first touchdown of his career in that game, a 67-yard pass from quarterback Ryan Willis. After not making any receptions against Notre Dame, Keene came back against North Carolina and made the game-winning touchdown catch to give the Hokies the comeback victory. He followed up his performance against UNC with a three catch, 27-yard game against Georgia Tech last week. Keen joins wide receiver Eric Kumah as the only offensive players to receive the honor this season. Kumah wore the jersey for the William and Mary game in Week 2, making two receptions for 83 yards. Keene and the rest of the Hokies will take the field against Boston College this Saturday at 3:45 p.m.
