Virginia Tech doesn’t extend offers out to recruits living in the Great Plains very often, but the Hokies did that yesterday when they offered 2020 CB Dontae Manning out of Kansas City.

Manning told us that his reaction was that he was “more shocked than anything I couldn’t even speak.” He added that he was “extremely” surprised and had “no clue it was coming.”
How does this offer impact Manning’s recruitment?
“Honestly, it kind of gets the ball rolling. It’s just a start for right now but more will open up now,” Manning said.
The Kansas City cornerback told us that Iowa State, his other offer, is currently recruiting him the hardest with visits scheduled to Iowa in two weeks and Iowa State by the end of the month. In addition, Manning told us that he’s hoping to visit Virginia Tech, Oregon, Nebraska, Missouri, and Kansas State in the not too distant future.
Virginia Tech doesn’t often extend offers to recruits in the Great Plains region so the fact that the Hokies are doing so is a tremendous sign of the talent that they believe Manning has.
While it definitely appears to be an uphill battle for the Hokies, Dontae Manning is a name to keep an eye on as the Hokies continue to shift more into 2020 recruiting with the 2019 cycle nearing its conclusion.
