Virginia Tech Showing "A Lot" Of Interest in JUCO CB Tay Gowan

IMG 5950
After spending a brief time at Miami-Ohio, Tay Gowan knew that he had the potential to play major power 5 football so the former two-star CB from Georgia made the decision to transfer out of the MAC school and go to JUCO in pursuit of that goal. Now, the cornerback for Butler C.C. is receiving lots of national interest with power 5 offers seeming inevitable. Among those showing interest, the Virginia Tech Hokies. Gowan told us that the Hokies have shown "a lot" of interest in him recently. In addition, Gowan told us that TCU, Kentucky, and Vanderbilt are also showing him a significant amount of interest at the moment while LSU is recruiting him the hardest despite having not offered him yet. Gowan is also taking an unofficial visit to Kansas State this weekend and feels the Wildcats are the closest to extending him his first power 5 offer at this point. Virginia Tech is among the schools Gowan does have interest in visiting in the near future while he also specifically mentioned Alabama, Georgia, and Tennessee as schools he hopes to visit. While Gowan may only have two offers from non-power 5 programs at this point, it's hard seeing that lasting much longer especially with his play this season. According to the Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference, Gowan currently has 21 tackles and 5 interceptions in 10 games while he also told us that he has only 1 pass all season on his man. Those numbers are extremely impressive and show why so many programs across the country are interested. In addition, Gowan has the type of size any team would want for a cornerback nowadays at 6'2''. 170 pounds with the ability to likely add on plenty of good weight once he gets to a major college football weight room. Gowan's recruitment may just be starting to heat up, but it also won't last for too long as the Butler CB told us that he intends to be an early enrollee and therefore sign during the early signing window. Because of that, plenty of teams will have a quick decision to make in the next few weeks as to whether they want to sign the talented JUCO CB. Gowan also knows that when he arrives on campus, he will only have 2 more years to play football (in addition to a 3rd year to "redshirt" should he not win early playing time). Knowing that, Gowan told us that the key factor in his decision will be "playing right away" with him adding that he has "0 time to waste." When Tay Gowan arrived at JUCO, his goal was to play major college football. Now, Gowan seems to be on the verge of achieving it with interest from several power 5 programs including the Hokies after an impressive JUCO season.
