In a thrilling overtime game, Virginia Tech took down Virginia 34-31 to win the Commonwealth Cup for the 15th-straight year. The Hokies and Cavaliers provided one of the most entertaining games in the 15-year streak with Emmanuel Belmar making the play of his career recoering the fumble that ended the game. There were plenty of great performances in this game, but the Hokies' bellcow and star offensive true freshman earned this week's Hokies of the Game honors.

Offensive Hokie of the Game: Tre Turner

For the second-straight week, Tre Turner is the Offensive Hokie of the Game after an impressive performance on offense and special teams. Turner put on a show leading the Hokies with 4 catches for 69 yards including a one-handed 7-yard touchdown catch against likely All-ACC CB Bryce Hall with his catch being the top play on SportsCenter. https://twitter.com/VT_Football/status/1066331969108275200 In addition, Turner had a 43-yard carry for his first big play of the game off a jet sweep. Turner capped it off with the big punt block late in the first half that was recovered by Jovonn Quillen to give the Hokies a 14-0 lead, their first halftime lead since the Boston College game. Over the past few weeks, Turner has seen his role grow leaps and bounds, and has put on a show with 12 receptions for 187 yards in his past 3 games along with 4 carries for 68 yards and a touchdown. Tre Turner is going to be a star for years to come and is starting to make the nation know his name. Steven Peoples had a strong performance even with his fumble recovered by Hezekiah Grimsley as Peoples had 19 carries for 96 yards and a 6-yard reception. Deshawn McClease had his best game in weeks with 7 carries for 44 yards and a touchdown while Hezekiah Grimsley had 3 catches for 31 yards, 17 rushing yards, and recovered Peoples' fumble for a touchdown.

Defensive Hokie of the Game: Ricky Walker

On his Senior Night, RIcky Walker shined with a big performance to lead Virginia Tech to victory. Walker has finally been healthy in recent weeks and his play has risen with 7 tackles including 2.0 tackles for loss (1 solo, 2 assisted) in the Hokies' victory over Virginia. Throughout this game, Walker was a constant threat providing consistent pressure up the middle while filling his role well in moments where the Hokies didn't need him to do more than just that. Walker has started to show over the past few weeks how good he could have been this season if he was 100%. Despite the injuries, Walker now has a career high 43 tackles this season while also having 9.5 tackles for loss, 3 less than he had in 13 games last season. While injuries hampered Walker some this season, it's clear that the Hokies' bellcow defensive tackle has had a strong senior season and is making a difference to keep the Hokies' long streaks alive. Emmanuel Belmar may have had only 3 tackles including an assisted tackle for loss, but the Hokies' redshirt sophomore DE made the most meaningful play recovering the botched handoff to end the game and extend the streak. Meanwhile, Dax Hollifield had another impressive game with 6 tackles including a pair of assisted tackles for loss, 1 pass breakup, and plenty of moments firing up the Hokies' fans. Congrats to Ricky Walker and Tre Turner on being the Hokies of the Game.
