Virginia Tech Showing Interest in CB/PR Kei'Trel Clark

Kei Trel Clark 1
The new Early Signing Day has created a scenario where some recruits that are committed to non-Power 5 programs can either sign early or wait to sign in February in the hopes of landing a bigger offer. For Richmond athlete Kei'Trel Clark, he was one of the few Group of 5 committed recruits who chose to wait while also opening his recruitment up and decommitting from Charlotte. Now, Clark may be close to receiving his first Power 5 offer from Virginia Tech. Clark told us that one of Virginia Tech's defensive assistants stopped by Manchester HS this with him and fellow teammate/Virginia Tech signee Will Pritchard. Clark told us that he does believe that there is a "good chance" Virginia Tech does offer him, but that he is currently being "patient" about that possibility. VT may not be the only school close to offering as JMU, Marshall, and Massachusetts are also showing lots of interest. However, those schools could be in a hole among non-Power 5 programs with Clark set to take an official visit to Kent State. However, a Virginia Tech offer likely would change Clark's recruitment more than any other offer could. "Yes, it would change my recruitment. It would give me the opportunity to play on the highest level, that I know that I’m well capable of doing, compete everyday against some of the best players in the nation, and build great long-term relationships. It would also be another great opportunity get me to that next level." While Kei'Trel Clark was a playmaker on all sides of the ball for state champion Manchester, earning All-State First Team honors at WR and Second Team honors at DB and PR, Clark told us that Virginia Tech is recruiting him to play cornerback along with be a punt and kick returner. In those two areas, Clark was very impressive with 5 interceptions and 26 total tackles this past season at cornerback while having 575 punt return yards including 4 punt return touchdowns for Manchester HS. Clark was also a captain for Manchester HS alongside VT signee and three-star OL Will Pritchard. The relationship between Clark and Pritchard is quite strong, and something that could prove quite beneficial for VT depending on how his recruitment develops before the February Signing Day. "That’s my guy. On his signing day after he signed, the first thing he said to me was, “you're next bro” (throwing up the VT sign.) On and off the field, we were the captains of the team. When someone had a question, they either asked me or Will, and when we saw things weren’t going right or one of our teammates was out of line, we checked them. Pritchard is my brother for life," Clark said on his relationship with Pritchard. With the Hokies showing lots of interest in Clark, that possibility of the Manchester captains playing together is seeming more and more likely. If Virginia Tech does offer Clark, the Hokies would become the clear frontrunner on paper though as we know well, recruiting isn't that simple For now, Virginia Tech is showing lots of interest in Kei'Trel Clark as they consider adding one more cornerback to their 2019 class before February's Signing Day.
