2021 Four-Star WR Gavin Blackwell Recaps His Virginia Tech Junior Day Visit

While most of the visitors Virginia Tech hosted this past weekend were top 2020 targets, the Hokies also hosted a couple of top 2021 targets including four-star WR Gavin Blackwell. https://twitter.com/Gavo2times_/status/1086747800455524353 Blackwell told us that he had a "pretty good" visit to Blacksburg with the interest from the Hokies' coaching staff in him standing out. During his visit, Blackwell got to tour Virginia Tech, have photos taken as you may have already seen on Twitter, and got to spend some conversational time with the coaching staff including Justin Fuente and James Shibest, his area recruiter. Blackwell had this to say about his time with Fuente and Shibest. "It was a great time just talking to them and continuing to build that relationship with them," Blackwell said. Blackwell has also built a strong relationship overall with Shibest that is continuing to grow. "It’s a really good relationship. We get along really well and our relationship is just growing." Blackwell said. Blackwell told us that this visit "opened my eyes a lot" and showed how interested the Hokies are in him. Additionally, Blackwell told us that Virginia Tech is currently in his top 3 alongside North Carolina and Duke. Blackwell also has visits scheduled to NC State, South Carolina, and Duke over the next few weeks. Virginia Tech has made it clear this weekend that they are very interested in talented 2021 WR Gavin Blackwell with that interest being very mutual at this point.
