"I was so happy I just hugged coach Fuente and said thank you. I’ve been wanting this offer for so long," Phillips said about his reaction to receiving a Virginia Tech offer.
This came as part of an extended conversation with head coach Justin Fuente that went quite well.
"It was great. Overall, we had a good long talk and really got to know each other a lot more. I can tell he is a very honest man and he means what he says," Phillips said.
While the offer was the high point of Phillips' time in Blacksburg, his visit as a whole went quite well.
"It was great, they showed us the facilities and what they’re about to do with them. The future looks real bright for the program," Phillips said.
During his visit, Andru Phillips was able to tour both the athletic facilities and Virginia Tech's campus in addition to spending lots of time with the coaching staff. In addition to his offer, the Hokies' coaching staff's interest in him stood out to Phillips.
"
How much love the coaches were showing. Almost every coach came up to me and told me how much they love how I play," Phillips said about what stood out to him.
