Freshman Virginia Tech defensive back D.J. Crossen has been suspended from the football team since September of 2018, the Athletics Department announced in a statement on Tuesday. Joe Sirera of the News and Record in Greensboro was the first to report on the story. [embed]https://twitter.com/JoeSireraNR/status/1095396809659297792[/embed] "D.J. Crossen has been suspended since September 2018. He is subject to the policies set forth in the Virginia Tech Code of Student Conduct," the statement from the Athletics Department said. The 6-foot-1, 191-pound defensive back saw action in the first two games of the 2018 season against Florida State and William and Mary. He did not register a tackle in either game. After the first two weeks, Crossen did not play again last season. Crossen, who was teammates with former Hokies quarterback Hendon Hooker at Dudley High School, was a three-star commit in Virginia Tech's 2018 recruiting class. He had a standout high school career, earning three all-conference selections and a 2017 NCHSAA all-state selection. He led his team to a 2016 state title and the second round of the 2017 state tournament. As of Tuesday afternoon, Crossen is still listed on Virginia Tech's football roster.
