2021 QB Christian Veilleux took his first unofficial visit to Blacksburg recently. While he says his recruiting process is still in the early stages, Virginia Tech made a good first impression. https://twitter.com/VeilleuxQB11/status/1097679255356477441?s=19 "I had a great time with everyone there and saw a lot of things which impressed me," said Veilleux. Originally from Ontario, Veilleux transferred to Canisius High School in Buffalo, NY. Since then, he has been getting a lot of attention from Power 5 schools such as Virginia Tech, Michigan, Indiana, and South Carolina. On his visit, Veilleux said he was impressed by the hospitality of the coaching staff. "I felt like the staff was really impressive," he said. "They treated me and my dad very well and made me feel very comfortable." Veilleux said he enjoyed touring the facilities and taking in the Virginia Tech campus. In addition, he was able to spend some quality time with offensive coordinator Brad Cornelsen. "I spent a good hour watching film with Coach Cornelsen, which was very interesting," said Veilleux. "We watched film and went over some of their passing and running concepts." Cornelsen has spent a good amount of time recruiting Veilleux and building a relationship with him. "We've talked multiple times over the phone and he's been to my school once during January," Veilleux said. Veilleux is technically a 2020 recruit at the moment, but he says he plans to reclassify as a member of the 2021 class. He added that the Hokies offered him as a 2021 recruit and are pursuing him as such. Veilleux told us that he currently has one more visit planned to Pittsburgh on March 29, and he is working to schedule a visit to South Carolina. He added that the Hokies and Gamecocks are among those recruiting him the hardest alongside Michigan and Indiana. Veilleux said that while it is still early in his recruitment, he considers Virginia Tech a top contender. "[Virginia Tech] was definitely one of my favorites going in," he said. "I like the school very much, but it is still early in the process."
