Virginia Tech received some good news on the the transfer front Thursday afternoon, as redshirt freshman Hendon Hooker has removed his name from the transfer portal. Hooker had announced last month that he would seek to transfer away from Virginia Tech. "I am taking my name out of the transfer portal and I truly believe it's best to continue my career as a Hokie," Hooker said in a post on Twitter. "I regret the time that I've missed with my teammates in preparation for spring ball. I apologize to them and my coaches if I appeared to have a lack of commitment in what we are trying to achieve here at Hokie Nation." The Hokies recruited and signed three-star quarterback Knox Kadum out of Rome, Ga. to provide some depth at the position. Now with Hooker back with the team, he will presumably join Ryan Willis and Quincy Patterson in a quarterback battle leading up to the 2019 season. Hooker initially committed to Virginia Tech in March of 2016 and enrolled in the Spring 2017 semester. He came in to the program as a four-star recruit from Greensboro, NC. After redshirting in 2017, he saw action in six games last season. He ran the ball four times on the season, including a career-long 69-yard touchdown run against William and Mary in September.
