2021 four-star ATH Trenton Adkins is set to visit Blacksburg for the first time this weekend for VIrginia Tech's Junior Day.
While Adkins has not visited before, he said he has been shown "quite a bit" of interest by Virginia Tech.
"Honestly, it would have a pretty big impact on my recruitment," Adkins said of a potential Hokies offer. "Virginia Tech is one of the top football programs in the nation."
Adkins told us that he does not currently have a leader in his recruitment, but Tennessee is currently recruiting him the hardest. Outside of the four official offers Adkins already holds from Power 5 schools, Virginia Tech, Florida, Miami, Notre Dame, Ohio State, USC, Stanford, and Purdue have all expressed interest in him.
As just a sophomore at Ridgeview High School in Clintwood, VA, Adkins is already attracting plenty of national attention.
247 Sports has ranked him as the 5th best athlete and 3rd best player in Virginia for the 2021 class.
The Hokies do have an interesting connection to Adkins as safeties coach Justin Hamilton is also from the same part of Southwest Virginia, having played for neighboring Clintwood High School before coming to Virginia Tech. That home area connection could provide some valuable familiarity should the Hokies offer him.
Trenton Adkins is a recruit to keep an eye on as Virginia Tech is showing "quite a bit" of interest in one of the most talented players in Southwest Virginia.
Trenton Adkins in the Recruiting Rankings
