Virginia Tech has sent out a fair amount of offers in recent weeks including one to three-star DE Kris Jenkins, son of the former four-time Pro Bowler who goes by the same name and graduated from Maryland. https://twitter.com/KrisJenkinsJr1/status/1100520566895902721 "I felt really good when I got the news. Virginia Tech was one of the first schools interested in me, so it was a pretty special moment," Jenkins said. Jenkins also received the offer in an interesting way thanks to the Maryland teammate connection between his father and new VT WR coach Jafar Williams. "My dad and Coach Williams were old teammates back in Maryland, and he let him know. My dad later relayed that information back to me," Jenkins said. Jenkins said that the offer broadens the spectrum of possibilities he has in his recruitment. "It’s a great program to add to the list, and it broadens my spectrum when it comes to choosing which school to go to," Jenkins said. Beyond that, Jenkins said that Virginia Tech was among 5 standing out along with Maryland, Michigan State, Iowa, and Northwestern. He had this to say on why the Hokies were standing out. "It’s a good school athletically, with a strong technical program, and one of our alumni from GC (Good Counsel), Kendall Fuller, had a lot of success being there," Jenkins said. Kris Jenkins recently visited Maryland while having plans to visit Northwestern this upcoming weekend. Jenkins also is hoping to take visits to Virginia Tech, Michigan State, Iowa, Purdue, Indiana, and East Carolina soon. When Jenkins does visit VT, it'll be his first trip to Blacksburg with Jenkins hoping to get a better feel for the program. "I want to see everything that VT has to offer. I want to get a good sense of the program and the environment," Jenkins said on what he's hoping to see on a VT visit. Looking ahead, Jenkins does have an idea of when he's hoping to start cutting down his list. "I plan during the summer to have narrowed my options down," Jenkins said. When Jenkins eventually makes a decision, he has a strong idea of what his school of choice will have to offer. "[I'm looking for] somewhere that feels like home. A place that’s strong academically and athletically, and will encourage me to push myself to the best of my ability," Jenkins said. While Kris Jenkins isn't close to a decision yet, Virginia Tech is in a strong position after extending an offer to him.
