Justin Robinson Will Miss the 2019 ACC Tournament

After Justin Robinson was given an honorary start in his final home game for Virginia Tech against Miami, Buzz Williams provided an update on the status of Justin Robinson for next week's ACC Tournament. https://twitter.com/RTD_MikeBarber/status/1104218695587516417 Buzz Williams announced after last night's game that Justin Robinson will not return for the ACC Tournament. Williams added that Robinson's status for the NCAA Tournament is still to be determined. Before making a brief start last night, Robinson was 14.4 points, 5.5 assists, 3.4 rebounds, and 1.7 steals per game while shooting 47.5% from the field, 41.1% from three-point range, and 82.5% from the free-throw line. The Hokies have found their rhythm without Robinson with a Kerry Blackshear-centric attack on the offensive end and a much slower tempo built for scrappy games. VT has also appeared to find some rhythm from three-point range, an area where the Hokies had struggled for weeks recently. However, there is no denying the fact that the Hokies are a better basketball team with Robinson at the helm. Wabissa Bede has been inconsistent running the point while the Hokies haven't had much else in terms of options at point guard with Nickeil Alexander-Walker faring better off the ball. The challenge for the Hokies will be trying to blend Robinson back in when the stakes are as high as they are in the NCAA Tournament rather than having the chance to do that before the stakes are win or go home. While the Hokies would clearly rather have Robinson, there will be a challenge in incorporating him back into the lineup given the style change VT has made though it helps that Robinson is as veteran of a player as he is.
