Virginia Tech Basketball Will Face Clemson to Open 2019-2020 Season

VT Cheerleaders Miami 1
The ACC Network held a press conference to reveal some details about the network along with the season opener for all 15 basketball schools for the 2019-20 season including Virginia Tech. https://twitter.com/HokiesMBB/status/1106643692167839744 The Hokies will face Clemson at Littlejohn Coliseum on November 5th to open the 2019-20 basketball season. The game will be televised on either ESPN2 and ESPNU and was one of 3 ACC openers not selected by the ACC Network. Virginia Tech and Clemson faced off once this past season at Clemson with the Tigers beating the Hokies in VT's third game without Justin Robinson. While the Hokies may be looking for a little redemption, they'll be doing so with what we expect to be a mostly brand new team led by Kerry Blackshear. Talk about having a series of conference games to open the season had been rumored about weeks ago, but has now come to fruition. Part of that is due to the expanded ACC schedule with every team now playing 20 conference games next season, up from 18 this year. Rather than have those games when students are not on campus due to winter break, the ACC has decided to add some excitement to the start of the season. While there may be some who complain that these games will be unpredictable and benefit veteran teams more often than not, there's definitely an additional early season excitement that will be of great benefit throughout the conference outside of the traditional blue bloods.
