Virginia Tech's Regan Magarity Selected 33rd Overall in the 2019 WNBA Draft

After a great career for Virginia Tech women's basketball, Regan Magarity joined an exclusive club of Hokies as she became the fifth VT player to be selected in the WNBA Draft. https://twitter.com/HokiesWBB/status/1116143912278790144 Magarity was selected 33rd overall (9th pick of the 3rd round) by the Connecticut Sun, becoming the first Hokie to be drafted since Nare Diawara was selected 30th overall by San Antonio in 2007. Magarity also becomes the first player to be selected since Kenny Brooks took over during the 2016-17 season. Magarity's final season was undoubtedly her best averaging a double-double for the first time in a full season with 14.1 points and 12.8 rebounds along with 2.3 assists and 1.6 blocks per game, all of which were career highs. Magarity also broke the ACC career record for rebounds while setting new records for most double-doubles, games played, starts made, and minutes played for Virginia Tech women's basketball. There's no doubt that Regan Magarity, along with teammate Taylor Emery who is sure to find an opportunity in the WNBA despite not being drafted, will be remembered among the best women's basketball players in Virginia Tech history. Though they may have never reached the pinnacle of the NCAA Tournament, they helped turn Virginia Tech women's basketball around, and make the Hokies a respectable program that has set the minimum bar of making and doing well in the WNIT.
