With Buzz Williams leaving Virginia Tech for Texas A&M and Mike Young replacing him, it seemed inevitable that a few commits may reconsider their futures. Before today, only Anthony Harris had decommitted from Virginia Tech and been released from his NLI, but Yavuz Gultekin has chosen to join him.

Gultekin announced on his Instagram that he has decided to decommit from Virginia Tech. It is unclear if Virginia Tech has released him from his National Letter of Intent though it would shocking if VT didn't immediately do so upon Gultekin informing them. Gultekin's decision leaves the Hokies with two commits in four-star SF/PF Emanuel Miller and three-star PG Andre Gordon.
The departure of Buzz Williams appears to be the reason for his decision with some rumors suggesting that Gultekin could end up joining Williams at Texas A&M.

Gultekin seemed more of a fit for Buzz Williams' system as a stretch 4 while it's unknown how well he would fit in Mike Young's system.
With Gultekin's departure, Virginia Tech now has a minimum of 5 scholarships available with the possibility of having as many as 7 depending on whether
Wabissa Bede and
Landers Nolley end up transferring elsewhere after entering the transfer portal.
