The Spring Game always brings plenty of top recruits to Virginia Tech for a visit including three-star offensive lineman Kobe Baynes this year. Baynes has emerged as a top interior offensive lineman target and had the Hokies among four schools standing out going into his visit.

Baynes added that he had a “really good” trip and “loved the visit” to Blacksburg.
While on his visit, Baynes noted that he got the chance to have a one-on-one conversation with Justin Fuente and spend some time around the team.
“I got to sit in a couple meetings and had a 1 on 1 with Coach Fuente that was really good,” Baynes said about what he did while on his visit.
Baynes has built a solid relationship with Justin Fuente telling us that he “loves talking to” him and that “he’s a great coach.”
Spending time in a couple of position and team meetings gave Baynes the opportunity to not only see how VT’s offensive line operates, but also see Justin Fuente get the Hokies fired up to play.
“It was pretty good, I got to see how the offensive line functioned and was really good seeing Fuente getting the team hyped during the team meeting,” Baynes said about his time in those meetings.
Kobe Baynes also came away impressed by the support of Hokie Nation mentioning specifically how he noticed “just how nice and supportive they are.”
So how did this visit impact Baynes’ recruitment?
“I was already high on Virginia Tech but this reassured it. They showed a lot of love and the coaching staff was great,” Baynes said.
Baynes added that Virginia Tech continues to stand out for him while the Hokies are also “recruiting me the best right now.” Baynes’ statement is just the latest sign that the Florida recruit is one of the Hokies’ top targets along the interior of the offensive line.
Virginia Tech was already in great shape in their pursuit of Kobe Baynes with Saturday’s only improving the Hokies’ position in his recruitment.
